Sikkim
is always very close to my heart. I try to visit Sikkim once in each year. This
year along with Lachung, Lachen, Yumthang and Gurudongmar we( a team of four
families) got an opportunity to explore a placid, divine village of North
Sikkim namely Dzongu. We did not know much about the place at the time of
planning the trip. Most of the tourists prefer to stay in Gangtok after hectic
North Sikkim tour. And this came as bliss to us a as we always prefer to stay
in some calm, serene place rather to stay in a tumultuous, crowded city. And that’s
why on the way back from Lachung we planned to stay at Lingthem Lyang homestay
in Dzongu for two nights. The time we spent at our homestay along with the
sweet experiences of exploring the small Lepcha village was the main reason
that made this tour a memorable one. I have no words to explain the experience
of our journey to reach the homestay on the top of the hill from the foothills
in a rainy night. It was damn adventurous. We were unable to feel the beauty of
the place at that night rather than the daring roads of Dzongu. In the morning
when we stood beneath the clear blue sky Mt. kanchenjunga welcomed us in the
back ground of heavenly greeneries. One can enjoy the mountain all day long
from the bedroom at Lingthem Lyang homestay if moody sky allows to. The peak is
so close to this place.

After
breakfast we paid a visit to nearby monastery. Trust me, each and every bend in
the road offered some impeccable landscapes and so as the monastery. After a
while returning back to room, we explored hanging bridge, river and the village
all across the hill. First, the experience of river rafting and later on the
joyous ride through the greeneries in an open Chota Haathi on the way to famous
hotspring is a life time memory. Since the time was short we could not visit
the waterfalls in the opposite side of the river.

At
night, in our homestay we, with our friend Diego( a lone tourist from France),
Sangdup( owner of Lingthem Lyang homestay) and his family shared a great time
with music, drinks and some special Lepcha recipes. The next morning we left for
NJP. Like the way this divine village welcomed us, at the time of leaving it
also bade goodbye with a heavy shower. At the time of leaving each of us was
saying that we have to come here again with some more time. Last of all a
heartiest thanks to my friend Soumen for recommending this place and arranging
all we needed and our regards to Sangdup and his family.
